I've figured out who Ted Cruz reminds me of.

I have an admittedly abnormal dislike for this man, even as bad as I know he is, my dislike for him is irrational. Any time I see him, I imagine him smarmily rehearsing in the mirror everything he says. His affect is so false and cheesy, trying to come across as genuine and patriotic. The way he uses his hands and his eyebrows is just simpering. He just always seems to be acting.

At times it almost reminds me of the series of photographs done of Hitler in evocative poses. (I'm not saying Cruz is Hitler, just that his affect anytime I see him in public reminds me of those photographs).

But truly, it struck me that it's Greg Stillson from the Dead Zone that Cruz really reminds me of. So suave and greasy. I'd been trying to think of who it was for months, now it finally struck me. He seems like the type of guy who would use a baby as a human shield.

of that gas bag. Not a real bone in his body - a total fake. And he does share the depth of Greg Stillson.

To what degree he really believes what he says is debatable but his charges against others are designed to stir his audience. In that he is dominated by a strongly authoritarian and irrational Father it gives pause.

and have mentioned it to my boyfriend, Cruz DOES always look and appear as though he's acting. Each facial expression seems so posed, perfectly timed, so well-rehearsed. The guy totally creeps me out!

No, I don't think so, because a baby wouldn't be much of a shield against a bullet. However, Cruz could hurl the baby at the gunman, allowing him time to duck behind something more substantial. The screaming infant, cartwheeling through the air probably would distract the gunman, allowing Ted Cruz a vital moment to seek shelter. Yes, that's how it would go.

(To my eyes, there is something distinctive about they hold their mouths, something between a smirk and a scowl, or possibly just cold, amoral, calculating countenance??? Whatever it is, it sends chills.)

The physical resemblance is very strong, as well as the politics. Like Cheney and Mr. Potter from It's a Wonderful Life.
