If we don't start worrying about mid term elections it won't matter who we elect in 2016

because he or she will, at most, have two years to govern. Right now, it really doesn't matter what Democrat is in the White House, given the GOP House, we get nothing done of import. No immigration reform, no expansion of LGBT rights, no expansion of labor rights, no fixes to Obama care, no expansion of SS, and I could go on. GOP governors and legislatures in Maine, NH, NJ, PA, NC, TX, FL, IN, and a host of other states mean no insurance for millions of poor people, cut backs in unemployment benefits for NC, rollback of abortion rights in a host of states, teachers laid off in a host of states, decimation of pensions, and so on.

This last mid term we saw Christie reelected with 60 percent of the vote, lost control of the Washington State Senate, barely beat a certifiable hate filled nut in VA, tied the VA AG race which had another certifiable hate filled nut. We could damn well lose the Senate and what are we doing, talking about 2016.

None of us can predict who will run in 2016 - but we sure can and should discuss the far more imminent 2014 elections.
