China Demands ABC ‘Face Mistakes’ for Jimmy Kimmel Comments

China’s Foreign Ministry on Monday demanded U.S. broadcaster ABC “face its mistakes head on” following a weekend of protests against late-night television host Jimmy Kimmel over a satirical skit in which a child suggested the U.S. “kill everyone in China” to address its debt problem.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang was asked by state-run CCTV to respond to the controversy during a daily news briefing on Monday.

“ABC should face its mistake head on, and respond with a sincere attitude to the reasonable demands by Chinese in America, and prevent a similar incident from occurring again,” he said.

A representative for Mr. Kimmel didn’t respond to a request for a comment. A representative for ABC said the network had no additional comment.

“Should we allow the Chinese to live?” Mr. Kimmel went on to ask the children later in the segment.
