SHIPPENSBURG -- A Shippensburg couple are being held in lieu of $1 million bail each after they bought Army and Navy uniforms and equipment over the weekend from an undercover Naval Criminal Investigative Service agent, according to court documents.

Denise A. Russell, 44, and Gary Lee Russell, 47, arranged to buy $74,898 worth of military uniforms and miscellaneous equipment that was presented to them as having been stolen from the U.S. government, according to documents filed in District Judge H. Anthony Adams' Office.

And what is it with the 'dead eyes' he has? Drugs?

Just plain creepy people.

Doesn't mean anything in particular to most, just a fashion statement. I still wear my old field jacket from my active duty days on occasion (rank and insignia removed). It's comfortable and warm, so why not?

Although I think I remember watching part of it a few years ago.

My personal experience with surplus shops is that their owners are usually opportunistic assholes who are not themselves insane but definitely cater to a deeply troubled body of right-wingers.

I have to prepare myself before shopping at one to make sure I do not mention politics AT ALL. Any one of their unhinged customers might take my head off with a gun.

Nothing there I'd be interested in.

"Falling Down" was fascinating. I loved Michael Douglas as a guy, already a little unhinged, loses his family and then his job and finally goes off the deep end. I haven't seen it in years, but I remember it well.

Surplus stores carry a lot of cool things. I use them when I need cheap gear for camping and backpacking. Also bought a Soviet surplus gas mask for like 15 dollars that I used when mixing and pouring muriatic acid.
