KKK group recruits in predominantly black Florida neighborhood

A Ku Klux Klan group trying to recruit new members has passed out hundreds of fliers in a predominantly black neighborhood in New Smyrna Beach.

Tim Washington, a resident of the neighborhood near North Myrtle Street, saw one of the fliers on his way to work Monday, WFTV reports. As residents left their homes, they found the fliers in their driveways and yards.

Officials said a KKK group from North Carolina sent fliers to a Florida chapter to pass out in local neighborhoods in an effort to recruit new members.

The flier reads, "Our race is our nation," showing a picture of a man dressed in the distinctive KKK robe and hood.
