I am definitely going to sign up for ACA but am sorry to admit that I haven't gotten around to it yet. I now see that my personal procrastination is contributing to the perception, which the media are only happy to propagate, that "people aren't signing up for it," so I am going to make the time in the next day or two to enroll if I can get through the website (and I am optimistic, as I have successfully "browsed" a couple of times already).
I am just posting this to encourage others who may have been waiting around for whatever reason, but who intend to enroll, to go ahead and do so to help boost the early numbers.

(3,182 posts)Why would I pay for a policy that isn't even effective for 2 months?
I can't afford to put out that kind of money for nothing.
on edit:
I've already registered and looked at my options, but evidently you don't "count" unless you put a policy in your shopping cart and pay for it.

(14,918 posts)I realize that not everyone can get the cash together six weeks ahead of the starting date of their coverage. I am just encouraging those who can, and were (like me) just not doing it, to help the important perception of a general acceptance and support of ACA by increasing the enrollment numbers sooner rather than later.

(16,334 posts)to create an account, enter my information and look at the plans. The only glitch I saw was it listed my home phone number as a cell phone number. When I corrected it, I had to click save & continue to previous answers and the cell phone info never did change.
I am one of the 846,000 who did not select a plan. It appears I could save about $100 a month with the bronze plan but the deductible is higher and I think the coinsurance is higher. We will probably keep what we have.

(14,918 posts)has been the plethora of options, almost all BC/BS in my area, which have many different deductibles, network vs. out of network benefits, co-pays, etc., and apparently involve different provider rosters. I feel I need to do more research at the level of BC/BS itself to make sure my primary care doc is in the correct roster. I haven't felt that this was really an ACA issue at all, but it has been the stumbling block, for me at least, in completing the registration process.
