Dick Cheney: Even Bigger Monster Than You Thought

Dick Cheney: Even Bigger Monster Than You Thought
Salon

You’ve probably heard that Dick Cheney agrees with Bill Clinton about letting people who are losing private insurance keep their old plans, as President Obama repeatedly seemed to promise they could. That’s not surprising: Cheney is a troll who maligns the president whenever he can, and piling on with Clinton is a special kind of fun. Yes, it’s outrageous that a man who has enjoyed many millions of dollars of taxpayer-funded medical care doesn’t give a damn about the uninsured in our society, but that’s Dick Cheney.

Still, I was a little startled to hear the former vice president express total indifference to questions about his heart donor in a revealing interview with Larry King (it airs Thursday night; here’s a clip). It’s a window into his utter entitlement and self-absorption, and he comes off as an even bigger monster than I’d thought. Most people would at least feign interest in the donor; Cheney can’t manage it.

When King asks if he knows the identity of the person whose heart keeps him alive, Cheney, who is promoting a book about his transplant experience, says no, and adds, “it hadn’t been a priority for me.” Then he goes on:

When I came out from under the anesthetic after the transplant, I was euphoric. I’d had–I’d been given the gift of additional lives, additional years of life. For the family of the donor, they’d just been [through] some terrible tragedy, they’d lost a family member. Can’t tell why, obviously, when you don’t know the details, but the way I think of it from a psychological standpoint is that it’s my new heart, not someone else’s old heart. And I always thank the donor, generically thank donors for the gift that I’ve been given, but I don’t spend time wondering who had it, what they’d done, what kind of person.

What I'd like to say to him face-to-face:

I'd tell you to go fuck yourself
But that is much too kind
Because if you could perform that feat
You'd take pleasure in your behind

I'd like to say eat shit and die
But you deserve much more
You should suffer all the grief and pain
Of your misbegotten war

Though I can never make you feel
Or think, or understand
I'll take solace when you hear your name
Cursed throughout the land

From inside a lonely prison cell
Dark and bare and cold
Where every day you pay for your crimes
Till you're sick, heartbroken, and old

Then when you finally leave the Earth
You fucked over oh so well
If there is a God and afterlife
You're going straight to hell

tell recipients of vital organs sometimes. In donation there can be a depression following the transplantation and the recipient can obsess over the identity of the person who donated the organ.

Now, knowing Cheney, I kind of doubt he'd ever give a flying fuck about the person that gave him the heart. He's a psychotic fuck.

If a family member of mine was the donor of that heart I'd be pretty fucking depressed myself. Saying that, maybe it's better for that family to not know who has the heart.

When he was exposed as a vicious right-winger, he got tombstoned rather quickly.

But he had a heart transplant also.

Sorry about your Generic Loss.
Glad I could afford the best medical care so I could pick up the pieces.

Years ago I worked for a wonderful liver transplant surgeon at a university. Sometimes I listened to the patients who couldn't afford the so expensive surgeries and years of aftercare meds due to---you guessed it---money. Patients' credit scores not up to par or the insurance company dropped them or were sick for so long, they were broke. How do you not become cynical when you witness the reality of the bottom line: the 'monied" got organs and the others died. If we had millions and millions more donors, what solves the issue that modern medicine offers miracles: if you can afford them.

...but it's really hard (impossible?) in Cheney's case.

What a reprehensible piece of shit he is.

Nothing Cheney says or does can reduce his stature anymore to my way of thinking, Cheney is the ever shrinking "man" and he's just being consistent with what I've always believed about him.

Thanks for the thread, WilliamPitt.

But what about the audience the press gives him? How many producers imagine anyone has any interest at all in hearing about his heart issues? Much less seeing him on the teevee. Maybe it's like driving next to a car wreck - you can't help yourself, and so you look. The only thing that gives me any satisfaction regarding Cheney is that he knows most people hate him. He doesn't care, of course, but he knows. And he'll die knowing that.

He is a liar. He is a war criminal. He is anti-American. He is corrupt.

He should shut his mouth and disappear forever. He has no room to comment on anything anyone else has done, and the media should consider this before they invite him on any more shows.

If justice were fair and equal in this country, Bushco would all be in prison now, convicted of the many crimes they committed against the American people and the world while in office.

Late on December 24th, 2013, Darth Cheney was interrupted at his evening three-hour hate, by a knock at the door. It was a visit from the shade of Richard Milhous Nixon, who warned him that he will be visited by three ghosts. The following morning reveals the hideous fact that Cheney has stolen the truth from the ghost of the past, the intelligence from the ghost of the present, and the birthright from the ghost of the future.

In great glee, Cheney throws up the sash of his bedroom window and shouts out to a young boy celebrating Christmas morning, calling him a turkey and telling him to get off his lawn. At which point his new heart transplant spontaneously rejects his entire body, and a Merry Christmas is had by one and all.

And the moral of the story, as Tiny Tim is known to have sung, “When strolling through the tulips if you want a clean soul, you’d better tiptoe around the larger clumps of night soil.”

"it wasn't a priority for me".....hmmmmm....just like military service during the Viet Nam War wasn't a priority for him.
