How do we respond to these "This is the real Wal-Mart" ads on TV

They feature an attractive young person (supposedly a Wal-Mart associate) talking about their 401K, the education help or the health insurance they have. Is there anyone out there trying to counter this propaganda?

Any current or former Wal-Mart associates on DU who can comment?

work force has no health benefits, I'm assuming due to the way they set up their hours etc.

I'm a medical professional and when I started working in the private world I was surprised at how often Walmart employees had no health coverage.

As well as supporting their protesting workers. I hear noise of a possible Black Friday strike on several big box chains.

Oh, and one more thing. Never, never, never cross a picket line for any reason. If you do, you'll get boils and herpes and you'll go insane and blind.

His wife also works there. They make SHIT for money, but he's proud to boast about how awesome WM is for "promoting" her to a manager after ten years, and now paying her almost $13 an hour. This is in Montana. I don't get these people...the feel they're privileged for getting paid 7-11 wages after a decade. I just don't get it...there is an Aldi Supermarket near me offering $12.50/hr for cashier jobs. These people berate me for being a New England Liberal.

We did get Dental benefits. It was less than $20.00 a month to cover the family. That was good. There was no way in hell to afford one of their health plans. The crappiest health plan, complete with a high deductible, high co-pays, and shitty coverage would have eaten up more than half of his paycheck. There was no education help. 401K was a joke.

As a manager, he got full time hours. However, I can go on at length about the dirty crap they pulled with the hours for most associates. I notice a lot of people saying, "Yay, open on Thanksgiving so people can earn extra money." That may happen at some stores. At Wal-Mart, there M.O was to cut back on hours either leading up to or in the weeks following Black Friday. So, the pay would either even out to be the same as any other week or people would actually earn less despite getting time and a half.

Lots of dirty there.

Odds are vastly in favor of it just being an actor reading lines.

Even if it's actually an associate, guess who picked that particular associate? The people paying for the commercial. WalMart.
