By CHRISTINA NG, ELIZA MURPHY and LAUREN SHER | Good Morning America 4 hours ago...
Thousands turned out in the streets of San Francisco today to cheer on Batkid, the 5-year-old boy with leukemia whose dream to be Batman for a day is coming true.
The Make-a-Wish Foundation created an entire day catered to Miles' dream, which began with a televised plea from the police chief for Batkids help to bring the bad guys to justice.
Gotham City needs you Batman. It's critical that you call me right now, Police Chief Greg Suhr said.
...snip....
The event drew a huge response as it played out across social media, summoning tweets from San Francisco 49ershead coach Jim Harbaugh, Sen.Patrick Leahy, Calif. Sen. Dianne Feinstein, even a special message from President Barack Obama.

(2,679 posts)Fortunately for us Hodgkin's has a high survival rate, and she has been Hodgkin's free for 10 years now. She just graduated from college and is a nurse.
But all these groups that help make kids wishes come true are a God's gift. And they really do matter.

(24,753 posts)and I've been a huge supporter ever since.
When my sister was dying of a brain tumor we were living in a small town in Arizona. They granted her wish to not only go to Disneyland but to be Cinderella. They provided her with a clone of Cinderellas dress (made from satin, etc.) paid for a rental van for the trip (since my sister could not fly do to nausea and problems with pressure caused by flight), paid for lodging several days at the park, extra time to take her to Sea World as well (and to visit my grandfather who was in the hospital in San Diego at the time).
We lost her the following year, but it gave her a last chance to see her grandfather and a time with the family that none of us are likely to forget.
They are truly a wonderful organization that has only gotten better with time.
Thanks for sharing.
