talking points!!!!
I've been hearing this tripe from so-called Left political commentators all week long:
You can't get on the healthcare.gov website! You can't get on the healthcare.gov website!
YES YOU CAN GET ON!!!
I've been testing out the website all week long. On my Mac as well as my PC. On all times of the day when I get a chance and get breaks. On peak times, on off-peak times!
It's a fucking lie!!!
You CAN get on the site!!

Just getting on the website is not the whole issue.

(20,450 posts)sabotage the very people who are trying to fix the damn thing by issuing subpoenas and holding hearings to tie the technicians up. They're doing this on purpose so that they can't get their work done. Assholes!

Washington (CNN) - A group of technology experts has a message for Rep. Darrell Issa, the Republican Oversight Committee chairman who last week disregarded the White Houses insistence that U.S. technology chief Todd Park is too busy to testify about his efforts to repair HealthCare.gov.
Let Todd Work, the group proclaims on a website launched after Issa issued a subpoena for Park to appear before his panel on Wednesday.
Now, instead of continuing to fix HealthCare.gov (a mess he did not make), Mr. Park has to spend his hours preparing for his testimony, declares the website on its homepage, before listing some of Parks accomplishments.
Mr. Park is a fantastic civil servant, who cares about making government more effective and accountable, just like Mr. Issa, the group writes. We hope that they can work together on solving the policies that enabled HealthCare.gov to fail in the first place. No matter what side of the aisle you sit on, Todd is one of the good guys. Let him do his job.

(64,982 posts)But his revulsion against the evil RW blowhards has led him over the past several years to push the liberal agenda more often than not.
BTW, as much as I like Jon Stewaert, he also is not always reliably liberal--especially in his tendency to push the false equivalency "both sides are guilty" meme and in his sucking up to a number of RW blowhards.

(13,877 posts)I kind of sense it's their networks. Or, it's just that they were before their time and had to cut a more centrist message...kind of like politicians. They are not nearly as funny as before, either.
I think Colbert still is OK because a lot of righties still think he's for real. Kind of like the Court Jester.

(24,853 posts)If they found out they'd get better ratings next week by telling you scientists at Johns Hopkins discovered MEAL WORMS dreamed of dominating the UNIVERSE, but only between the hours of 3am and 4pm... "Bill and Jon" would put someone on TV who would advocate fishing ONLY with EARTHWORMS.
They so smart...

(13,877 posts)And journalists ... lately just a cut above car salesmen ... definitely don't have the franchise on reporting the truth, or even caring what the truth is...they just made it clear. And don't get me started on the 60 Minutes blonde bimbo with her cleavage...LOL. Not their job, remember? Anyway, most don't have an original thought in their head.
Bill Maher and Jon Stewart bill high profile intellectuals, political and public intellectuals. And they are far from dummies with meal worms or whatever. That's part of their schtick. They are political. They get paid a ton of money. It's just that they've both lurched to the Center-Right., IMO.

(24,853 posts)"Archie" was a composite of the worst of American Society in the 70's.
Some people (read LOTS OF DUers) think Jon Stewart is giving them "Truth", as in speaking TRUTH to POWER. Jon Stewart is laughing his way to the bank, and on his way, he's stopping in at dinner parties thrown by the Koch Brothers. He says things we as DUers think are cool though, so we think HE'S cool. Jon doesn't give a fuck, as long as HIS kids can attend the finer schools...
Bill Maher? Misogynist ratings whore... Prove me wrong.
The line between journalist and comedian has been blurred for a LONG time. Journalism went from "disseminating" information to "telling the public what I think", and having it be taken as truth. Editorialism has become the new journalism.
I'd bet that a DU poll as to whether Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert were "journalists" or not would wind up pretty much 50/50.

(13,877 posts)The Comedy Network, and he is a wealthy Jew. He pokes fun at that a bit and also his writers. He pretty much makes fun of all sides, as well, IMO. But I just watch a clip here or there anymore.
Bill Maher truly makes fun of everyone, especially religions, and makes every one squirm...including those at his table. But I don't get HBO so only see him in clips anymore.
Maybe it's just me...making fun of people is what seems to pass for comedy in the entire culture...tv, movies, mightclubs. So that's probably my own issue.

(8,377 posts)That isn't a surprise. But who is the genius from the left who decided this would be a good talking point for every damn "Democrat" to repeat over and over?
I know a few individuals are still having trouble making a connection on the website, but this seems to be isolated cases now. The system at large has been working pretty well the past two weeks. You most certainly can do all the shopping you need to do for plans. I don't know how smooth the actual enrollment process is yet, but these assholes obviously haven't even asked an intern to take 15 minutes to check it out.
With friends like this, who need enemies?

(20,450 posts)Maryland site was one of the sites that was not functioning for quite some time and was written up in the papers, along with healthcare.gov as being a failure by a progressive governor. The Republicans went after Governor O'Malley, too. They would not let up on him, and the Washington Post crucified him for weeks. (Tell me again how the media is liberal?)
Anyway, I was able to do all I needed to do to compare plans, save my data because I'm still going through that process. There's too much to choose from and I have some really good ones, too.
ohheckyeah
(9,314 posts)isn't everyone's experience. It took me two weeks to get to the compare plans stage. I had to keep entering the same info over and over again. Half of the time the site was down for maintenance or just timed out.

(1,582 posts)and it isn't healthy, IMHO.
But I don't think Bill Maher, Saturday Night Live, etc, have to let it restrict them.
The reality is that healthcare.gov is going to be the butt of jokes for some years to come.
