I imagine that the guy is just as bad as others politically, but may be the GOP leadership and Republican governors should be careful. Jindal and Cantor endorsed this guy's opponent, and McAllister won on a platform of Medicaid extension AND restoring civility. This is not necessarily what the GOP leadership has in mind, but this won in RED Louisiana.

McAllister campaigned as a social and fiscal conservative. But the college dropout, whose business interests range from oilfield technology to fast-food franchises, also pledged to return some civility to the nation's capital and positioned himself slightly to the left of Riser. He argued that Louisiana should accept the Medicaid expansion called for in the Affordable Care Act, President Barack Obama's signature healthcare reform effort.

Mayor Mayo endorses McAllister
Mayo, who finished third in the Oct. 12 primary election, said he is endorsing McAllister because he is the candidate willing to work across party lines and fight to improve the district, which is one of the poorest in the nation.

Mr. McAllister goes to Washington
McAllister, 39, of Swartz, a political comet, beat fellow Republican and state Sen. Neil Riser of Columbia, and it wasnt close. He won 60 percent to 40 percent in the runoff election Saturday night.
McAllister, a college dropout, former roughneck and astute businessman, stunned the established political landscape with his landslide victory.
<...>
Riser had the backing of former U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-Ruston, who resigned at the height of his popularity to take a job in Republican Gov. Bobby Jindals Cabinet...He also had the endorsements of each of the states sitting Republican congressmen, as well as powerful lobbyists like the National Rifle Association.
