Given how devastating these can be, I'm just going to go ahead and get this out here.
Tornadoes are ravaging and will likely continue to ravage the Great Lakes states, and people who have been and will be affected are going to need your help.
These photos are from storms that have already hit Illinois. My home state--Indiana--is right in the path of the worst of it, but the damage won't be limited to these places.
So do what you can--canned food, water, blankets, a blood donation or even just a couple of dollars will go a long way in helping the current and inevitable future victims of this storm get their lives back on track.

Keep an eye out for blood drives.
And most importantly, if you live in one of these states, stay safe. Keep watching your local news, listen for the sirens, and be ready to head to shelter. Avoid going out if you absolutely don't have to.

(15,888 posts)UPDATE: Emergency officials say there are reports of extensive damage in and around the Tazewell County community of Washington, and that rescue teams are racing there amid reports of people trapped in buildings.
Telephone service is spotty in the region and Patti Thompson of the Illinois Emergency Management Agency said that it's difficult to get solid information about the extent of the damage.
ABC Newschannel 20 has a crew on the way and will keep you updated as we learn more about conditions in that area.
