A tornado hit Pekin, Ill., around 11:30 a.m. CT, according to witnesses.

change got worse.

(28,784 posts)I can't really remember many fall tornado sitches - but when I was looking for info, the weather folks said it's both seasons, so, okay.
I lost my electricity, but not for long.
on the local U. radio station, trackers reported winds at 80 mph just south of where I am.
it was AMAZING how quickly it moved from no rain to sprinkles to HAIL and high winds and a sheet of rain with little visibility.
I usually don't take cover in these things but this time I did.
