Cancelled

I received a letter from Aetna stating that my Medicare Advantage policy won't be offered for 2014. I could get a new policy with just about equal coverage for in increase of $145 monthly.

No reason was given for not offering the policy I had. I don't know if this is a result of the ACA. Has anybody else had their Med/ Advantage policy cancelled?

We all know that big insurance companies are there to help you, they will inform you that the reason for the increase is Obama. Just be thankful that they are producers and not takers and pay the increase.

Problem solved!

4. Yes, cancellations of Medicare Advantage policies are common because the ACA reduced payments.

The insurers seem to be cancelling PPO plans and only offering HMO plans with restricted provider networks.

Or offering to provide separate Medigap and Part D plans.

If a company thinks it can scam a bunch of SENIORS to earn a fast buck they will. They think older people are too stupid to shop around for a better deal. Like you've never purchased anything before. Would you buy a car because the last dealership you used said here are the keys to your new car and your payments are double?

Of course not. You'd laugh and go somewhere else or find another car on the lot that suits you better.

8. It's jacked up that they didn't tell you you might find better coverage for less money elsewhere.

I hate insurance companies. We need to sue them out of existence.

11. Go to the ACA website and look around. If you can't navigate the site call the 800

number and be patient. Aetna is a pretty immoral company in terms of living up to their policy promises. My guess is the company is trying to get you to sign up for a policy that likely will have you paying more when you should actually be saving on your premium.

It's United Health Care, but I feel protected by AARP.

15. You really are better off with a traditional medicare supplemental plan.

Medicare Advantage is the path the Republicans are using to destroy traditional medicare
coverage. Try AARP who as the poster above said uses United Health Care.

Traditional coverage is far better than Medicare Advantage. It is fee for service care
not PPO or HMO.
