Sylvia Browne, world-famous psychic, dead.

World famous psychic Sylvia Browne -- who appeared on all sorts of TV shows including "Montel" "Larry King Live" and "Unsolved Mysteries" -- has passed away .. TMZ has learned.

Browne specialized in psychic detective work, and attempted to help on several missing person cases ... with varying results.

Browne's son, Chris, tells TMZ ... Sylvia passed away this morning in San Jose, surrounded by family and friends. She was 77.

Browne most recently took heat after famously announcing that Amanda Berry had died after she went missing in 2003 ... because, as we all know now, she wasn't dead. Sylvia chalked up the misinformation as a simple mistake.

The following message was just posted on Sylvia's Facebook page, "Sylvia graduated today. She was surrounded by family and friends. What a legacy. She shared so much. We will carry on her knowledge with hypnosis and Journey of the Soul and her many books. What a great party they must be having on the Other Side. Bless everyone."

One of Ariel Castro's victims was declared dead by Browne, and a boy being held captive by a molestor.

From 2000:

http://web.archive.org/web/20010124001100/http:/brillscontent.com/2000dec/notebook/psychic.shtml

In 2002: Browne told the parents of 11-year-old Shawn Hornbeck, who had disappeared earlier that year, that Shawn was dead and had been kidnapped by a dark-skinned man with dreadlocks.[18][19] Hornbeck was found alive in 2007; his kidnapper was Caucasian and short-haired.[20]< In June 2008, UK television network ITV2 was sanctioned by Ofcom for reairing the Montel Williams episode featuring Browne's original prediction.[21][22]
In November 2004, to the mother of kidnapping victim Amanda Berry, who had disappeared 19 months earlier: "She's not alive, honey." Browne also said she had a vision of Berry's jacket in the garbage with "DNA on it."[23] Berry's mother died two years later. Berry was found alive in May 2013.[24][25]
On Larry King Live, Brown predicted she would die at the age of 88, but she died at age 77.[26][27]

39. Sylvia Browne Blows it Big Time

http://www.ufowatchdog.com/sylvia_browne.htm

Alleged psychic Sylvia Browne has been around for a while making claims of successfully communicating with the dead, solving murder cases, finding missing children, and foreseeing future events. Browne is a regular on the Montel Williams Show (pictured left) and frequents the Coast To Coast AM radio program. On 03-JAN-05, Browne was on the air with George Noory as the tragic story of several miners being trapped in a mine after an explosion was being played out.

Reports from the mine had left a sense of dread with all after deadly levels of carbon monoxide were discovered in the location the miners were supposed to be. Prior to Browne's appearance on the show, Noory made the incredible announcement on the air that twelve of the thirteen miners had been found alive as the news was making the rounds on every major news wire.

Later, Noory opened Browne's appearance by mentioning to Browne the good news regarding the mining incident:

NOORY:" Sylvia, this is a momentous day today with these coal miners, at least tweleve of the thirteen being found alive. "

BROWNE: " Yes. "

The above response by Browne clearly indicates that she believes the news of the miners being found alive is accurate. A little while later in the show, Noory asks Browne directly about the miners having reportedly been found alive:

NOORY: " Of course this is after the fact, with these 12 of 13 coal miners they found successfully... "

BROWNE: " I know. " (replies as Noory is speaking)

NOORY: "...Had you been on the program today, would [you] have felt if, because they heard no sound, that this was a very gloomy moment, and that they might have all died? "

BROWNE: " No. I knew they were going to be found. I hate people that say something after the fact. "

Well, Sylvia's own statement regarding her "hate" of people making claims "after the fact" would be her own hypocrisy coming full circle to slap her right in the face on live national radio.

Later in the program, with Browne still on the air, Noory made the astounding announcement of the initial report having been wrong. Tragically, all but a single miner had been found dead.

I'm not sure intent was there, but certainly a depraved indifference for the well-being of her marks was.

I'm all for psychics as fun...but when you go so far as to cross the line and use your charlatanry to tell people their loved ones are dead without any proof...you deserve an asshole like me mocking your passing.

And don't anyone think about getting on me about the recently deceased. I have a special hatred for people who use "magical thinking" in order to deceive people to line their pockets, and aside from faith healers, most of whom are dead or faded back into obscurity, no one banked more on the combination of human misery and being a bullshit artist than she did. She's a shitstain of humanity, and she can finally do no more harm.

but I will say that I am glad that she will no longer be able to do what she did to Shawn Hornbeck's parents.

Here's her working over the Hornbeck's on Montel Williams (who is an unapologetic Sylvia enabler):

And here's Anderson Cooper covering the issue when Shawn was found alive years later:
Part 1:

Part 2:

She was an absolutely horrible person who did nothing of value and so much damage for her own financial gain.

I don't wish death on anybody, but I will not mourn for her death.

Oddly enough, San Jose's two major (some would say only ) attractions are both mystical in nature: the Winchester Mystery House and the Rosicrucian headquarters.
