What passed is almost exactly what Frist and McConnell proposed about 9 years ago. McCain and his hand-picked "Gang of 14" shot down the GOP getting its judges in place.
Another McCain failure for the history books.

If there is a God, one day, we will cram this ruling down Democrats' throats and they'll have to take it because we'll make them.
Personally, I hope the retribution is so bad to Democrats that they end up digging that dead bastard "Searchlight Nevadan" up and throwing his traitorous bones to the four winds.

Say that in January 2017 Ted Cruz is in the Oval office and the Democrats are filibustering every judicial appointment he makes. Assuming the Republicans hold the majority in the Senate are you suggesting they would be fascists if they voted this same thing?

They know this will come back to bite them in the future, but they are trading long term reward for short term success. With Obama’s ever dwindling popularity circling the drain and threatening to take his party with him, the last hope they have of enacting anything is in the next year.

Yep. The Marxist Democrat party is pushing it to the wall. They will not release their grip on the US through democratic means and it will take a traumatic collapse of the country for a chance at a reset.

Yes, Dingy Harry knows they will lose the senate next year. Best to frontload their picks starting now.

He’s gambling (and is probably right) that the Republicans won’t have the gonads to do the same to them after next year’s elections.

The point of the exercise is to make lifetime appointments to the fed courts hearing cases over federal regulations. Current lineup is 4-D, 4-R, and 3 vacancies. Not a word from lame stream media on why Publicrats don’t approve of the 3 proposed judges.

The Dems have let the camel stick his nose under the tent. They tried to limit this to courts below the SCOTUS but the point is they changed the rules with a simple majority vote. The GOP can now change the rules when they have the majority.

They will be able to repeal 0bamacare with a simple majority. They will be able to change the rule again to approve conservative justices to the SCOTUS. Just need that simple majority and a non Dem POTUS. 0bamacare may just give us both.

Senate Adopts New Rules on Filibusters
Huh? Did I miss something, Rush Limbaugh just said at the beginning of his show that the "Nuclear" threat wasn't worth discussing because it was just a distraction to take the media focus off Obamacare and that the democrats had no intention of following through, and even if they did it was a long convoluted process.

It appears that not only did they go "Nuclear" they changed the rules in about 15 minutes....

Why do we need two Houses...
Excellent question although the filibusterer is not in the Constitution, it is the last remnant of what was the US Republic. With the Direct Election of Senators, the Chamber is like to house using the power of the federal government to bring home the bacon. Without term limits, they are entrenched power houses with ego to large to control.

We are no longer a Republic.

Theoretically a GOP Congress with a GOP President could eliminate the filibuster in order to expand the courts. Then fill the seats with Conservatives. Like FDR tried with his SCOTUS packing scheme.

This shouldn’t be called the Nuclear Option anymore. It should be called exactly what it is: the Democrat Court-Packing Scheme

Harry is being obedient to his marching orders from the White House. Obama wants those sycophant judges in place now. I’ll bet every one of them was hand selected by Jarrett and placed in such a way as to block further challenges to Obamacare and state abortion laws.

Completely and utterly clueless that the filibuster was completely changed (and broken) just a few decades ago.

If Democrats were really 'fixing' the filibuster, they'd be going back to how it was in 1793. Instead, they are just ending the filibuster on a few types of nominees, if I understand correctly. They could still block any bill that had majority support without ever having to take the floor and actually filibuster.
