interview crazy people. And more during elections. Now, once his monologue is over - it seems the skits with the others are overdone and not funny to me at all. Kind of like the bad skits on SNL. When the DS won Emmy's it was just amazing to me how many
writers there were and I thought - all these people - and this is the best they got?

I agree on his comedic timing

To each his own, I suppose. My absolute favorite (except for his misogyny) is Bill Maher. He and his writers are genius to me - but they only have to write one show a week.

It will get harder to find people who think they will come across as reasonable, as more and more stories of people who've been shown to be nuts on the show spread. Even if they think they'll seem OK on the show, someone who knows them is now very likely to tell them "no, you'll be the fall guy in the segment" before they do it.

My problem is with people that make that kind of green who are fighting against paying a progressive tax rate on it. I believe the Kochs fall into this category, and Stewart does not - correct me if I'm wrong. That would make it "different".

Letterman had Cadillac, McDonalds, and big retailers. Jon Stewart had promos for other Comedy Central and very arcane companies/products.

By 2004 and later, I was noticing Apple, BMW, and the like on The Daily Show. He not only increased advertising $ for his own show as its popularity and influence increased. He also made Comedy Central a more viable product for Viacom. He deserves every cent.

It's a crappy pie full of pizza toppings...often enough it's still raw on the bottom because all that wet volume keeps it from baking right unless you're using a really hot oven, like 880'F. It would be vastly improved even by increasing the amount of non-cheese ingredient and using pre-cooked meat in order to reduce the grease content.

Don't bother telling me I don't know pizza, I've worked in Greek-style and New-Haven-style pizzerias for almost a decade on and off.

I don't even remember what Craig KILBORN was like back then, just that I was a fan, and didn't follow KILBORN when he moved to late night network, and the couple of times I peeked he was awful.

So when Jon took over, I was bemused in his first shows when he was beseeching and obsequious about us previous Daily fans to give him a break. So I hung in there, and when he appeared to be a brilliant Lib comedian I was thrilled and signed on totally.

But after a few years the first big red flag flew, when he attacked Crossfire. While I could agree with attacking the polarization that LIMBOsevic initiated with Scorched Earth, why Crossfire where at least Lefties got a dig in?!1 I was just puzzled.

And later I didn't mind that he sprinkled barbs at Lefties when deserved. But the big reveal for me was when he piggybacked on the BecKKK "million" march or whatever it was, and put on a thoroughly bullshit fakery complete with the Mythbusters nobodies and other hippie-dippy/street-performing crap. He was like the flip BecKKK sermonizing about Let's Get Along, which he intensified like taking off a mask in years after, reaching out to wingnuts.

MAHER nailed him with the event, "If you're going to stage an event, you should make it about something." I have never EVER watched Jon since, and MAHER and COLBERT are where it's at and no looking back.

71. He just crushed the competition

Startup channel FXX had been featuring the fresh, funny Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell. Fortunately for me, FXX does not have a West Coast feed, so it came on at 8 out here, after the reruns of the previous night's Colbert and TDS (no late nights for this geezer). But unfortunately for Kamau, in most of the country, he was up against TDS.

The FXXers just canceled him.

when I'm watching MSNBC. But when I do watch him, he's aite. I prefer Colbert, though.

87. I adore Jon and Stephen both --

and I never miss a show. They continue to keep me sane when all is going to shit around me. I suspect that those who only started watching Jon during Jr's years may not appreciate it when Jon's "humor" is aimed at a Democrat/O. Those of us who started watching during the late Clinton years are used to the equal opportunity barbs.

He continues to be an important voice and outlet for others like him. And I don't begrudge him a cent of his salary.
