Press: A little less "sad", "regret", "unfortunate" and a little more self-introspection please.
The press is "lamenting" about the demise of the filibuster for executive level and most judicial nominees - so "sad" that it has come to this. Really "unfortunate" about the way things work in DC, sure Republicans are the ones who are behaving badly now, but it wasn't always them - sometimes it is the Democrats. Each side ratcheting up against the other over time and now, sadly, it has come to this......
I have not read one story that says, you know, maybe we the press contributed to this, maybe we have some accountability here. Maybe we should not be quite so snarky, and not focus as much on the "gotchas" and watching the Congress and the President like a ping pong ball. Maybe we should not have built up people like Palin and torn down people like Wellstone. Maybe we should not focus so much on who can zing the other better, and focus more on the guys and women who are trying to make things better. Maybe we should talk less about what they wear, how they look and more about what the bill actually does and doesn't do. Maybe we should start reporting about them, instead of trying to have dinner and drinks with them. Gee, maybe we aid and abetted, co-conspired with them and with each other to focus more on the conflict and the shallow and less on the substance.
The press is disgusting. An absolute new low. If I read one more "they will regret this" - sounds more like the Sopranos and less like the most powerful country on earth.
