WaPo: States see surge in Obamacare enrollments

After anemic enrollment in the federal health insurance marketplace, several states running their own online exchanges are reporting a rapid increase in the number of people signing up for coverage, a trend officials say is encouraging for President Obama’s health-care law.

By mid-November, the 14 state-based marketplaces reported data showing enrollment has nearly doubled from last month, jumping to about 150,000 from 79,000, according to state and federal statistics. The nonprofit Commonwealth Fund, which has been tracking the data, called the most recent numbers “a November enrollment surge.”

The latest figures from the state-run exchanges, combined with totals on the federal exchange, brings the national number to at least 176,000. While the pace of enrollments increased this month, sign-ups are still well below early projections.

On Friday, the Obama administration announced that it is giving consumers an extra week in December to sign up for coverage that begins Jan. 1, in light of troubles with federal enrollment. Insurers worried that the change would not give them enough time to process applications.

this is the final showdown,.,.,if Obamacare dies so does the Democratic party and Liberalism but it succeeds, its all over for the right..Everything is on the line in this fight..

Both sides can talk and talk and argue all they want but in a few months the truth will be known..That is why the right is so committed to its failure and we must do EVERYTHING to make it succeed..especially bringing up success stories,.,.dont forget the righties plan to kill it by scaring people into not enrolling..

I wonder if John Boner.. got a better rate now that he enrolled...

After all, so many aspects of the ACA are popular such as covering people with pre-existing conditions and covering adult children up to age 26. I'm around military people with college-age kids that are on their folks' Tricare and they'd hate Republicans if it got canceled. Not to mention some of my relations by marriage in WV that are staunch teabaggers but have been on Medicaid now for a couple of years due to the ACA and would get kicked off. They wouldn't be too happy going back to the state's old indigent program where they had to wait months to be seen by a doctor. A lot of people have gotten benefits that they've never had before and it's only human nature, they're not going to want to give them back. No stuffing the socialized medicine genie back in the bottle once it's out. And if there's one thing Republicans have gotten pretty good at these last few years, it's shooting themselves in the foot. They'll happily take away healthcare from very ill people and tell them it's for their own good, it was turning them into dirty commies anyway.

If obamacare fails it would be a huge setback, no denying that.
But liberalism will endure no matter what.

Liberalism is the idea that all men are created equal.
That helping the less fortunate is a worthy goal.
That people are free to live their lives as they see fit.

Liberalism is eternal.
