One question about the motorcade

I have this idea that the motorcade was diverted at almost the last moment. That it had been planned to go down one avenue, but then was diverted to go down the avenue past the book depository.

Anyone remember that detail that way? Or was it always planned to go past the book depository?

If it was not planned, then how would Oswald know to be ready?

of the security detail from their normal position riding behind Kennedy and you do have to wonder. Watch the video at the airport as the agents are visibly disturbed about being called off their normal positions.

I don't know about the route being changed.

but how about going a little more sinister. Maybe someone Kennedy trusted suggested to him to pull security (you need Texas and it looks bad having those agents riding behind you). I am not saying that happened because it is difficult to get past the fact that Oswald was an employee before this motorcade was planned - if he got the position after the motorcade was planned then you would have to wonder even more.

I frankly think Oswald was a nut who was given a once in a lifetime opportunity. You still have to wonder about security agents expressing bewilderment at a change in plans for the most powerful person in the free world (remember Obama strolling down the street after the election - I was scared to death).

I question the secret service not present on JFK's car like they are in LBJ's car. But you may be right. Just like in the plaza, less people to see the president. All that grass to sit and wait, overpasses, but hardly anyone there.

It wasn't changed. It was finalised on 18 November. It wasn't diverted. That was determined to be the best route from Love Field to the Dallas Trade Mart. See here: http://mcadams.posc.mu.edu/route.htm

in the Dallas papers. No diversion. It was planned to go past the Texas Book Depository.
