This is exactly the reason why so-called "Ag-Gag" bills must be opposed. If one isn't concerned about the welfare of the animals, then one still should be concerned about the health violations that easily could go on undetected if left completely in the dark.

After all, this isn't the first time that Tyson Foods and its associates have come under fire. This undercover video from 2007 showed the torture of birds destined for KFC. Beyond that, it showed workers urinating on the conveyor belt as birds were headed on for processing. And this is, of course, beyond what is considered by many to already be hellish conditions imposed upon factory animals subjected to lives inside the walls, crates and cages of Tyson's many farms.
This new video is yet one more that demonstrates why transparency is so vital for animal welfare, and why we have a right to know what goes on behind the closed doors of factory farms that can impact our health. Until factory farms are willing to police themselves and properly investigate their operations, then animal rights activists and insiders should not be prosecuted for documenting these obvious crimes.

There is no reason to treat animals this cruelly.
Use the form on the site to sign our petition to Tyson CEO Donnie Smith telling the company to immediately stop allowing gestation crate confinement in its supply chain.
After the video was released online, a massive public outcry caused Tyson to pull the plug temporarily on this one factory farms contract. But the reality is animal mistreatment is systemic in Tysons supply chain, and gestation crate confinement creates a culture of callousness toward animals.
Burger King, McDonalds, Wendys, and Safeway have all committed to eliminating gestation crates from their supply chains. But Tyson doesnt just condone this cruelty, which scientific evidence proves causes extreme animal suffering it defends it.
It shouldnt take intrepid animal welfare activists going undercover to document mistreatment. Tyson should be making every effort to root animal mistreatment out of its supply chain. And with so much momentum building around this issue now, we have a huge opportunity to make the second largest meat producer in the world stop this abuse for good.
Sign the petition to Tyson Foods CEO Donnie Smith demanding the company eliminate cruel gestation crates from its supply chain.

(3,922 posts)What the hell is wrong with those sociopaths? Anyone who can treat any animal like that needs psychiatric help and needs to spend time in prison. Those people are NOT normal.
I signed the petition.

(329 posts)I may never eat any meat, fowl or fish again. I've been close before but this is just over the top How can we expect humans to be compassionate to each other if they can't be compassionate to our animal companions. I think I'm finally there....

(53,661 posts)This is one of the reasons why we need animal welfare laws. Even for those who cliam to be unaffected hearing of this, there is no way it stops at the slaughterhouse door. I'm talking about stuff like this, not well regulated or more humane methods. The speed of the process is a major problem. And what this describes, is of no use at all to anyone but someone who wants to make another sentient within their power being suffer and be degraded in its last moments on Earth. This is not what we are here on this planet to do.
JMHO.

(36,926 posts)I'm glad Tyson is doing something, but feel the conditions are all too common. These particular sadists got caught, that is all. People need to rebel against such horrors and only buy 100% organic meat. My preference would be that nobody ate meat at all, but that is not realistic.
