(21,946 posts)1. We feed the little cuties at their own feeder..in the crotches of a huge tree we have.
They get peanuts and corn on the cob. The cobs disappear within 15 minutes. We break them in half and both halves are gone. Look out front and we can see the squirrel carrying them back to their nest. The peanuts will get picked over and eaten all day long.

(36,926 posts)2. I just put out half a bag of walnuts for one of my little tree friends.
Hoping s/he gets them before the blue jays!

(21,946 posts)3. We put out a bunch of sunflower seeds in a different area on the ground.
The jays get those mostly as well as squirrels. The doves like the safflower seeds we toss there. With the extra place to eat, the squirrels can munch on their peanuts all day long.
We get them in a big 50 pound bag all shelled from a lawn/garden/feed store near us. I lasts a long time and the price is great.
