That would be like being disappointed in a dung beetle for rolling dung.
Chuck Schumer continues to carry water for AIPAC
The most irredeemable quality about Chuck Schumer is his hard-line position on Israel. I remember how he publicly criticized Obama in 2010 and was bragging to a radio station in NY that he told the president to his face that he should the be supportive of Netanyahu regarding settlements in East Jerusalem. Now today, on MTP he apparently was not supportive of Chuck Hagel for defense and was basically undermining Obama on national television, obviously carrying the water of the ADL and AIPAC.
No other democratic "leader" would do this, not Pelosi, Reid, and definitely not Durbin. But here we have a Senator who wants to be majority leader who openly bucks the president on siding with a foreign country. Where's the backlash?

New York - At AIPAC Sen. Schumer Remarks His Name Refelcts 'Shomer' to Guard Jews And Israel

New York - Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) just addressed the AIPAC crowd. Schumers known for his speaking skills, and he did not disappoint, urging backing for legislation that would immediately impose sanctions on Iran.
He noted that his name is a derivative of the Hebrew shomer, or guardian, and said he was pledged to guarding the security of the Jews and Israel.
He also guards a grudge. He remembered one of his earliest encounters with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, when Bibi was a U.N. ambassador in the 1980s, and Schumer was a congressman from New York.
The Schumers invited Bibi over for Shabbat dinner and put on quite a spread. Someone made the mistake of asking Bibi to explain price controls, which then beset Israels economy.
Bibi being Bibi, Schumer said, the ambassador took a 2-liter Pepsi bottle, unscrwed the cap, stuck his thumb in it and proceeded to shake.

This is Israels economy, Netanyahu said. It looks stable and then he pulled out his thumb.
It took me $1,800 to clean up the mess, Schumer saidand he wanted to know if Bibi was ready to pay up.
Hey, at least he wasnt asking interest.

In the following piece from a few days ago, MJ Rosenberg is, happily, a bit too pessimistic:
U.S. President Barack Obama and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani have spoken. And they are on the same page. By that I mean not they agree about the issues dividing the two countries but that they are both ready to move forward, to test each other and see if an agreement is possible. It's a major breakthroughas anyone who has paid attention over the past 34 years knows. AIPAC is already preparing legislation that will send a clear message to Rouhani: dont bother reaching out to the West, because you will achieve nothing.
However, I do not see this process leading anywhere because the Israeli government Benjamin Netanyahu and its lobby, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), are determined to end the process and they have the ability to do it. They intend to use the U.S. Congress to pass resolutions that will cause Rouhani to walk away by making clear that Congress will accept nothing short of surrender on nuclear issues. Although Obama wants to negotiate with Iran about ensuring that its nuclear program is not used to produce weapons, the lobby, which writes the laws imposing sanctions on Iran, insists that Iran give up its nuclear program entirely. AIPAC listed its demands in a statement last week.
The bottom line was this: Congress must not consider lifting economic sanctions until the Iranians stop uranium enrichment, stop work on installing new centrifuges, allow international inspection of nuclear sites, and move out of the country its stockpile of highly enriched uranium. In contrast to the administration which, recognizing that Iran (like every other country) has the right to nuclear power for peaceful purposes, AIPAC says that Iran has no such right. (Israel, of course, has a large stockpile of nuclear weapons but, hey, thats different.)
Not only that, if Iran does not agree to total nuclear surrender, The United States must support Israels right to act against Iran if it feels compelledin its own legitimate self-defenseto act.

and people in government like Schumer would be happy to let them do so. Just because someone has a "d" after their name does not mean he is on our side. I detest him.
