Is Penn. the Next Marriage Equality State?

Pennsylvania, the only state in the Northeast that does not permit same-sex nuptials, may be the next marriage battleground as a case moves to trial.

Whitewood v. White will be heard by U.S. District Judge John Jones on June 9 in Harrisburg. Brushing aside pleas to dismiss the case by some state officials, Jones also refused to delay the trial, which was filed by same-sex couples after much of the Defense of Marriage Act was struck down by the Supreme Court in June.

is wasting a lot of time debating a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage. They want to put it before the voters of Indiana next fall. Progressive groups across the state are pleading with the GOP-controlled congress (both houses) to stop it but with the backing of Gubner Pence they are hell bent on going ahead come hell or high water.
