War on Christmas??? Oh, no

The war is on Thanksgiving.

I have read and listened to stupid arguments about the so-called "War on Christmas" for years. That is paranoid and ignorant. As Americans we should be more concerned about the war on Thanksgiving. Think about it.

1) Christmas decorations in the store before Thanksgiving
2) People decorating their homes weeks before Thanksgiving..... and not with turkeys and fall leaves.... nope Christmas trees and lights.
3) Stores are opening on Thanksgiving Day for Christmas shopping. Therefore employees not getting a Thanksgiving dinner with family.
4) Families leaving gatherings of generations to go shopping.

Christmas is not an American holiday..... Thanksgiving is. I think there is a war on Thanksgiving. How do you celebrate and think about the people who came here to start a country (yes, I know there are many variations of the story....I am trying to make a point here) if you are rushing past the day to focus on SHOPPING? If people want to shop on Black Friday, fine.... just do not start that on the day before.

It is hyperbole to call opening stores (or any unnecessary business) on Thanksgiving traitorous... but I am saying it anyway. I will be at work that day as I have on most of the last 35 years... but it will be at a hospital.... we never close. My husband will be there at work, too, so we will see each other off and on. We will eat together Friday. I will be thankful that I survived breast cancer, that we are both pretty healthy and have jobs that support us. I will also be thankful that this time next year....I will be retired.

I hope everyone has food to eat and family and friends tomorrow and enough to eat every day.

Happy Thanksgiving to all Americans.... even those damn Republicans and Tea Party members who really do not like Americans.... just certain groups of them. I think they are traitors.

and put in its place what it really is - kickoff to shopping season.
It could always be 30 days (or 40 days whatever) before Dec. 25.
Looks like the corporates are already headed that way.
