And what about Jehovah Witness denying blood transfusion coverage. Every religious nut could deny any part of health care they did not believe in.

(27,787 posts)... clearly a company run by Christian Scientists could demand that they not include plans that provide coverage for medical treatments that violate their religion.

(10,602 posts)Using the religious freedom argument for business owners brings in so many other bad possibilities. One can only imagine what could be claimed under such a banner.

(3,003 posts)Contraceptives and transfusions are two entirely diffrient things.
The religious exemptions would have limits. They could get rid of contraceptives under it for one main reason - How they are used. Rarely are they used to save a persons life. Transfusions? Used to save lives daily.
I think health plans should cover both, but still... No reason to go off the deep end on bad possibilities.

(13,986 posts)Oddly, I haven't heard this concern raised by the Justice Department. They mention child labor as something that could be "justified" as a religious business practice, but not this.
