Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsPope Francis must be doing something right. He's got Rushbo on full scale attack
against him. Unfortunately, when I'm driving, I have to listen to the lying bull shit driveler on the station that I need to get weather and traffic on. Although I heard only five minutes of his show on my drive home from the gym today and he is attacking Francis for his social ideas about helping the poor and paying decent wages etc.. He was also riffing on how much the Catholic Church owns in New York. He said he's not a Catholic but he certainly cannot stand for this. I would call his show, if I could get on, and say,
Dear Mr. Limbaugh:
You cannot speak for Catholics, nor Jews, nor followers of Islam or any other religion other than the evangelical Christianity you purport to support, which also could teach the aforementioned real lessons in greed through religion. Really, those mega-church and radio/TV ministries rake in more cash in a week than most others in a year because they are experts in getting little old ladies to give up their social security to them. I don't notice that you are equally critical of their wealth, but of course I know you don't really believe in what they preach because you worship at the church of Satan and you will be going to Hell when the time comes.
So I know I won't get on your show or anything I email or tweet to you will be scrubbed. However, I'm certain your minions do lurk and troll and this website. I hope they pass my message on to you.

(32,073 posts)To many of them, Catholics ain't Christians. Granted, many of these types are already Limbaugh's "friends"...

(2,061 posts)I heard him the other day and he sounded loaded. He must be back on the narcotics. Chronic pain suffers have a legitimate claim to narcotics but what is his again? Isn't he a big time golfer and wasn't he big on long sentences for drug abusers? Such a hypocrite.

(2,061 posts)I could go for that but, it would be admitting that he has a conscience!
Maybe all the years of turning a blind eye to the evils of a Republican are coming back to him.
Karma gets us all in the end.

(2,419 posts)There is a large contingent of Republican Catholics in my town. I have seen a marked difference in the political language coming from many of them since Francis started speaking out. I think he has caused a re-evaluation of values and this scares the republicans. Remember the Regan revolution was fueled by the co-opting of many conservative Catholics who were traditionally Democrats. Maybe they're losing their hold which will truly leave them with only the uber-wealthy and gullible loons.

(75,480 posts)It may turn back to the church I remember in my youth, the one that backed labor unions and sent parishioners house to house in poor neighborhoods with canned goods and clothing for the needy.

(2,419 posts)or any church for that matter, in the near future, this would certainly be a welcome change. I have noticed that I have been able to have much more civil discussions with many of the local parishioners (not all of them) because they are definitely rethinking some social and economic issues. I was getting tired of only being able to talk about sports & the weather (as long as we steered clear of climate change!)

(18,671 posts)But I like what I'm hearing from this Pope. I almost cried when I read his most recent thoughts about the ridiculous "Trickle Down" bullshit. Sure, he's going to rattle a few chains. Of the damned...
Anyway, I'm really glad my Catholic friends finally have a pope they can stand behind, and I'm really happy for them. As an ex-Mormon growing up in Salt Lake City, my Catholic friends were my salvation. They were kind, compassionate and to this day, very liberal.

You're probably right -- that's punishment enough. I sure wouldn't want to live inside that hateful head.
