For the last few days, including today, the Today Show has been doing stories questioning the value of the deals given on Black Friday. As far as I can remember they did the same thing last year. For this year the show (Today) did at least two stories detailing how some of the deals provided on Black Friday are at least no better than the deals provided on other holidays. For instance, it was mentioned that one store was promoting an item as a Black Friday deal, but that item had been on sale for the same price on Veterans' Day. Worse than that is the chance that people may pay more for an item on Black Friday. In that same Today Show story it was mentioned that one retailer was advertising an item as on sale for Black Friday, but that same item had been ten dollars cheaper earlier in the year.

Last year the Today Show questioned whether people could get better deals after Black Friday. It seemed the conclusion was in some cases, yes.
