These people are fighting each other over THINGS. They will not die if they don't have those THINGS, their lives will not be less fulfilled if they do not have those THINGS; alternatively, their lives will not be more fulfilled if they do have those THINGS.

But they don't understand this and allow businesses and the media to manipulate them into thinking they need to have those THINGS; their very existence depends on it. I hate every aspect of it.

The worst commercial I've seen - Deck the Halls turned into a jingle urging people to put down those dishes, grab the car keys and GO GO GO GO GO, SHOP SHOP SHOP SHOP! (On Thanksgiving Day).
