As for the critters he shoots he likes it better when the playing field is not even. Give the ducks,pigeons etc a gun and he may stay home the first day of hunting season!

in civilian life, it's likely that if he had been in the Army that he would have done the same in service.

It's quite possible he would have served in Europe, and never touched a gun after basic or heard a shot fired in anger.

particularly during Vietnam when the US military handled much of it's logistical support internally.

Plenty of gun owners and avid hunters never serve, and lots of service people
aren't firearm fanatics.
