Dr. CNN writes one of the dumbest most fucked articles I have ever read.

Last edited Tue Dec 3, 2013, 11:37 AM - Edit history (1)

It’s like mind blowing.... He essentially states that many people become lax in their health habits when they reach Medicare Age because there are less financial consequences if they get sick..

He almost seems to imply that,.. see what happens when you have a Nanny State.

I couldn’t finish it.....Am I missing something?..Or did I not fully understand what he was trying to say.

1. "at the time they obtained medicare"? how about the fact they retired from work also.

Just because you have access to insurance does not mean that access is the problem or the solve all. Of course insurance does not guarentee good health. Who the hell would think that? It does make it possible to access better health care though. If or how you use it is up to the individual though. Correlation does not equal causation.

So, imo, yes, it is an idiotic piece.

He's always been an idiot and he'll always be an idiot.

Once you get him out of his very narrow field of medicine, he's lost.

2. Gupta misunderstood the Oregon experiment
Tue Dec 3, 2013, 02:12 AM
Dec 2013

The Oregon study actually found improved health from having insurance but because of the relatively limited sample size the measures did not reach the certainty level normally required for experimental certainty. But that was not because the improvements were not of a magnitude hoped for - it was because in the sample size various health measures for a variety of relatively uncommon ailments failed to reach "statistical significance." Which would be expected given the sample size. Gupta confuses "not statistically significant" with "no improvement."

Dec 2013

Even though I’ve always thought it was about the money...Hannity, Coulter, Limbough.. I never thought they really believe what they are saying.. They just love their life style toys and stuff.. So they need to remain dumb so they can say I’m really not hurting anyone with my opinions..

like he was told he was on his own and to go out there in front of the camera and say shit that don't get your ass in trouble with the people who sign our checks. What you get is Gupta just blabbering nonsense all fucking day that he makes up on the fly just to get through his stupidity-filled spiels.

I actually used to like that guy until he sold out his soul and was assimilated into that mind-erasing machine.

I love the quote which someone just left on the thread. Upton Sinclair:

It’s hard not to be stupid when your paycheck relies on being stupid... Not exact, but close enough..

Did you see how quickly he shifted on marijuana, based on what he either knew or should have known for decades? You don't need a weatherman (or, apparently, a brain surgeon) to know which way the wind blows.

I am so sorry to see articles like this one coming out of the U.S. these days. What a far cry from the place I long ago imagined the U.S. would be with regard to medical care.

I came to Canada many years ago to marry my Canadian spouse. His father was elderly and dependent upon him at that time. I thought one day we'd move to the U.S. so I could be closer to my family...that was before the hard reality of medical care costs there hit. Our son was born in Canada with multiple serious health issues. That's when I knew I'd never be moving back there at all. The cost of care specialists, long term hospital stays would have meant we'd be living out of a box had we not stayed here. I was a medical refugee due to my son and thankful to my core to Canada for the life saving care my son has had here.

My dream was to see the U.S. adopt a sort of medicare for all system. Instead articles like these come out with ridiculous premise that say those who are old are only using the system more because now they can. B.S.!!

I have heard this nonsense before. What is he suggesting? That people on Medicaid should be fined a cost the more they use services? Has he factored into the equation that elderly people are simply sicker more often and have long term health issues in the last years of life? What a cold hearted ridiculous way to frame this issue. C.N.N. should be ashamed to publish something even suggesting such as this for the rest of the world to see. I think I'll pass that article along to Canadian media sources and see what they make of it.

12. Buster, there is not such thing as 'Medicaid age'. Medicaid is for low income people

of any age, it is Medicare that kicks in at retirement age and is not related to income.
PS, Gupta is a twit.

who recently discovered cannabis is NOT addictive? The boy is not the sharpest knife in the drawer. He was hired because he's good looking, he's got an M.D. next to his name and because he's willing to mouth the words of the Owners in return for a paycheck.

But then again, that's CNN where the race to the bottom with Faux seems to be their goal.
