We were going to get a wolfdog but after doing a lot of research decided on a German stock, GSD instead.

Just getting to be too old to handle such a big, active animal like a wolfdog - the shepherd is enough of a handful!

The mother was pure arctic wolf (all white) and the father was a timber wolf-malamute mix. He was big and beautiful. My girlfriend at the time wanted to get one and I went along.

In hindsight I do not recommend them unless you have a lot of space and/or excellent fencing. By excellent fencing I mean six feet high chain link with diagonal barbed wire on top (they climb) with 2 -4 feet of fencing buried underground with cinder block on top (they dig).

They can't ever be trusted with children. That little unstable gait of toddlers/children triggers something that no operant training can contain.

As long as you retain alpha status with them, they ... (eta) they are kind and affectionate to their owners.
