The remark kinda sets the bar for dumb.
There are many wealthy people who are lacking both intelligence and compassion.

If you are so intellectual, please submit your dissertation on Mesoamerican trade practices. Business is your self proclaimed area of expertise.

Trump makes money through extreme speculation.

The only difference between Trump at a negotiating table and you at one of his poker tables, is no one bails out the poker player.

I've known quite a few very rich people over the years. A number of 1 percenters. And even a couple of 0.01 percenters. To a person, every single one of them were amazingly determined people, who basically worked 24/7. Every interaction becomes an opportunity to create more wealth for themselves.

And for the most part every single one of them turned out to be quite shallow and boring when a subject of conversation OTHER than the acquisition of personal wealth is being discussed. Shallow, superficial, boring and highly determined. Sounds just like The Donald. Of course, starting out with a nice inheritance certainly helps!

And naturally, most of the really really REALLY smart people I've known chose to go into the arts or journalism or academia or other fields where one does not expect to generate huge amounts of personal wealth.

So basically, The Donald has it exactly backwards. Like always.

There are bright interesting rich people. There are dull boring rich people. Most rich people are pretty average. The difference between the ultra rich and everyone else is of course we have a whole society set up to tell us how smart they are, how hard they work, how important they are to holding society together, and how much they deserve to be wealthy.
