That would leave us with two active service carriers, one for the atlantic and one for the pacific, and it would be two more than anyone else.

And by aircraft carrier I mean a ship that weighs in at around 100,000 tons, not a helicopter launch vessel. We could have a couple of pint sized carriers too - like maybe four ~50,000 ton ships.

In fact, minus the American arsenal, the world's nations possess 14 total, and the majority of these are light carriers and light fleet carriers (not really considered blue water carriers), rather the the power projection carriers (heavy carriers and fleet carriers) the US uses and bases its doctrine off of.

Were it me as Secretary of the Navy, knowing what I know (as well as what I don't know), I'd be more than satisfied with six fleet carriers... and might even consider that an excessive number.
