Since the Affordable Care Act was signed into law in 2010, the right has latched on to a series of horror stories about it. As each story has proven itself to be incomplete, distorted, or outright false, right wingers, aided by conservative media, have simply moved to the next outrage. The latest outrage is over New York father Cornelius Kelly, who claims that his 18 month old daughter would be left out of the family insurance plan that he selected on the healthcare exchange.
Cornelius Kelly lives on Long Island with his wife and four children. The New York Post broke the story of the Kelly familys supposed problem with their new insurance plan on December 1. The headline reads: Baby not covered under ObamaCare family plan.

Capital New York looked into the story and filled in the gaps in the Fox News coverage. Bill Schwarz, a spokesperson for the New York Department of Health, told them: It was 100 percent false. Of course, everyone is covered in the family policy.
The Capital New York story brings up two points that the Fox News coverage managed to leave out. First, they point out that Cornelius Kellys original application only listed three of his four children. The second gap in the Fox coverage may be the most important: Cornelius Kelly is a failed Conservative Party candidate for the Suffolk County legislature. So hes not exactly the unbiased American citizen that Fox News wants you to think he is.
