What have conservatives said about Dem women & others WORSE than Martin Bashir resigned for?

While Bashir's comment was over the top (though put so elegantly, I was surprised a right winger could unpack it), I can think of any number of times right wingers have gone as far or farther and NOT resigned.

The most recent (maybe) is Rush Limbaugh call Sandra Fluke a slut and a prostitute:

Limbaugh slams Fluke on his show, claiming that she is asking the government to subsidize her sex life. "What does that make her?" he asks. "It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex. She's having so much sex she can't afford contraception. She wants you and me and the taxpayers to pay her to have sex."

And of course the long list of unfounded accusations they have made against Hillary: lesbian, witch, murderer...ad nauseum.

What else have they said that equals or surpasses Bashir?

I did the same trick as a kid: I would insult bullies with words I was sure weren't in their vocabulary, which worked well unless I misjudged their vocabulary.

Neither one is a real journalist.

They are tabloidists.

I didn't work with my folks when I was 10 and as I grew up, I learned to evaluate the right or wrong of something on it's own merits. Shouldn't we be doing that with the Bashir case?

I'd imagine it's predicated on holding all journalists to the same standard. Shouldn't we be doing that, and allowing the obvious conclusions to follow?

their standards for impeaching Democratic presidents, for example, are incredibly low, while NO offense for a Republican president is severe enough to merit impeachment.

I agree that MSNBC shuld be even-handed in their handling of their two employees, Bashir and Limbaugh.

12. What Sarah Palin had said which had prompted Bashir's reply was wretchedly horrible

I am so tired of Republicans making claims tying their racist, homophobic, sexist, earth-brutalizing, repressing the 99% cause to the same type of causes that people like Abraham Lincoln, MLKJr, Mandela, Rosa Parks and others civil rights leaders fought against.

I read an article in my local paper where a school board member compared is fight to include school prayer in his public school as the same type of fight Rosa Parks did when she refused to sit at the back of the bus. Santorum now claims that Obamacare is somehow repressing people in the same way Mandela was repressed for being black. I mean really, how is providing affordable healthcare to everyone so horrible it is somehow similiar to jailing a man for decades because he wants the black majority in his country have the same rights as the WHite minorities repressing them?

Sarah Palin's comments about equating affordable healthcare to slavery was disgusting. But people let her make these horribly racist comments again and again and NO ONE holds her accountable (although to be fair only Faux News really gives her airtime). So yes what Bashir says was bad but unlike these right-wing nutjobs, Bashir was held accountable for his offensive remarks. But give it a few more weeks and I'm sure someone at Faux News will give Sarah Palin free reign at the microphone so she can make yet another racist, homophobic, sexist, earth-brutalizing, repressing the 99% comment and no one will hold her accountable for it.
