Texas campus cop empties gun on unarmed student: ‘Oh, you’re gonna shoot me?’

Texas campus cop empties gun on unarmed student: ‘Oh, you’re gonna shoot me?’

A campus police officer in San Antonio, Texas is under investigation after shooting and killing an unarmed student at an off-campus traffic stop.

At a press conference on Friday, Lt. Cindy Pruitt of the Alamo Heights Police Department said that an altercation occurred when University of the Incarnate Word Cpl. Chris Carter pulled over 23-year-old Robert Cameron Redus just a few blocks off campus at around 2 a.m Friday morning.

A witness who did not wish to be identified recalled to KSAT that the officer never warned Redus before shooting him.

“I didn’t hear him say anything like, ‘Get down on your hands and knees,’ you know? I didn’t hear him say anything. He just started shooting,” the witness said. “He emptied the gun on him…. Boom, boom, boom. Six shots — five or six.”

Something really wrong that he's had nine jobs in eight years. The whole thing is heartbreaking.

If it is not one thing it is another, as the saying goes.

I am so disillusioned by so much that is going on.
Something like this happens and all we can do is shake our heads in dismay.
I hope they draw and quarter this policeman if the report is true.

Put a gun in the hand of a rent-a-cop, which essentially he is.

Make him a corporal (what? a 50 cent an hour raise?)

Yeah, that'll work out fine.

I'd like to know what their background check consisted of
and if they did anything close to psychological testing. The
parents of students at this school should be frightened.

Which is kinda fucked up considering this is a private Catholic university that is accountable to nobody outside of the church. If I have a problem with my municipal cops at least I can appeal to my local elected officials for change who are ultimately responsible to the voting public.

More and more, this is going to happen. It was happening to the blacks, now it's starting to happen to whites. The class warfare is raging, and no one notices. As the "have nots" rise up against the "haves," the response will be swift and brutal.

The mechanisms of democracy have failed. We have lost our country to the oligarchs. We will not get it back in the voting booth.

The officer, who has been placed on leave pending the outcome of the shooting investigation, has an 'extensive law enforcement background,' according to the university.
However, part of the background involves jumping from job-to-job on a regular basis, according to employment records obtained by the San Antonio Express-News.
Cpl Carter has had nine jobs at eight different agencies over his eight-year law enforcement career.
He rarely stayed in any job for more than a year and the two years and seven months as a campus officer for UIW was the longest stint in his care
