Wal-Mart bans man for life for matching ads

A disabled former professional wrestler was banned for life from Wal-Mart for ad matching, one of the retailer's proudest traditions.

Joe Cantrell made a hobby out of browsing local stores and going to Wal-Mart to get the cheapest prices for its products through ad matching, according to television station WXYZ. However, last week, Cantrell took a trip to Wal-Mart's San Tan Valley, Ariz., location, where an employee stopped him and told him he wasn’t allowed to ad match. Cantrell got upset and complained to management. Upon his return trip four days later, he was placed in handcuffs by local law enforcement.

"When I left, he turned around and called the Pinal County Sheriff's Office and said he felt intimidated and threatened," Cantrell told WXYZ. "I was upset, but never once did I say anything to the gentleman."

The former wrestler says he was "handcuffed, humiliated and embarrassed in front of everybody at Wal-Mart," but the deputies quickly released him.

The customer was released by the cops, who realized Cantrell was not a threat. Nevertheless, he says he's facing charges of threatening, intimidation and disorderly conduct.

On top of all that, he will no longer be able to pursue his hobby -- Cantrell has been slapped with a lifetime ban from Wal-Mart.

They get pissed off with coupons too.

It's as if they're insinuating "How DARE you imply that our prices aren't low enough!"

even as much as I hate Walmart. For example, from 2006:
http://socaluncensored.com/board/showthread.php?t=11505

..."Joe Cantrell has one answer for everything, and that answer is SUE! He has threatened lawsuits against hundreds of people. He tried to sue two former UWW staff members for over three grand. He was laughed out of court along with his partner Dennis Alcorn. He has lied about his own death and now is lying about a son of his dying. ...... His first wrestling school in Rialto lasted as long as Alcorns first payments took them.
Cantrell has no money, he lives with his family in Bloomington. He signs everything he has just in case he becomes famous one day. He has hundreds of soda cans signed, as well as old wrestling tickets and a whole assortment of other items to sell when he makes it in the business. .....He is known in the Inland Empire as the “junk food bandit” because of his con to get food from fast food restaurants. His picture is even posted on several fast food joints in San Bernardino! I have seen him do it personally to Taco Bell!

The second UWW school was at the Rialto Speedway. That lasted until the owner of the speedway saw Cantrell and his ex-girlfriend stealing money from the box office after one UWW show. According to the speedway owner Cantrell got over $300 for himself."....

That story just seemed too strange. Given the fact that he attempts to make a living by suing people the story start to makes a little more sense. It sounds like he'd get along quite will with the fakes from Westboro Baptist Church.
