From her response to constituent emails urging her to oppose the TPP:
"Opening access to overseas markets has helped create a positive effect on Washington State's economy by providing business opportunities and increasing job opportunities. I firmly believe, however, that any trade agreement must ensure fair competition for domestic industries and support basic labor standards and environmental protections. Furthermore, I believe that an active trade policy must be accompanied by expanded educational and job-training opportunities to better prepare our workforce, including workers displaced by trade, to meet the challenges of the global economy.
With an active and fair trade policy, I am confident that Washington State will continue to benefit from an increasingly integrated role in the international economy. I look forward to working to expand educational and job-training opportunities to enable our workforce, including workers displaced by trade, to meet the challenges of the global economy. I am committed to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle on a trade agenda that best meets the needs of all Washingtonians. "
So their jobs are going away. Screw 'em, they can retrain for jobs that aren't there.
In other words, they can eat cake.
She is a Democrat.

Everybody knows that these trade "free" bills have ruined our manufacturing base and middle class.
But there is no mainstream media to report that MAJOR fact.

(12,081 posts)I'm still thinking about whether or not Murray will get my vote. She has done better work than Cantwell has done in the past, but with this new budget deal I'm even questioning whether I will vote for Murray or not.

(33,224 posts)Cantwell? I'd tend to look pretty favorably on a primary challenger.

(16,854 posts)I look at it as a kind of 'hold-over' from the inception of that crap in the 90's.
We're supposed to eat it and thank the cloud beings that the country doesn't have Slade Gorton anymore.
I look to the primaries too.
Murray was supposed to attend the WA labor convention during the NAFTA debate time but sent a tape instead... then supported NAFTA.
We all know how THAT turned out.
