So I got a tour of the Coffee shop I will be working at.

Last edited Fri Dec 13, 2013, 05:46 PM - Edit history (1)

It is owned by the treatment center that is treating my PTSD. The 2 GM's are councilors. They watch of systems and, if you are switching medication, for side effects. It is a working Coffee Shop, yet also therapy.

Some that are there are also in my support group. It will be nice working with people that understand what I am trying to accomplish because that is what they are there to do to.

The atmosphere is very loose and casual. The uniform is blue jeans and sneakers. There are enough working at one time that if someone needs a moment for some reason, it won't be a problem. They said this is to help people learn how to cope with triggers that may come up in everyday life. And if a trigger happens, I can step off, grab a GM and work it out.

Oh, and I am also going to try a new treatment they are working on here at the U of A where they use Ultra Sound to help with the depression part of what I have. I am looking forward to it.

There is nothing like food and a diverse public to set off interactions both good and bad. You will find it a valuable experience in learning about yourself and humanity at large. Best of luck to you. I wish you all the success in the world.

I think this sort of business/program is one of the best ideas I have heard of in a long time. People helping people in more than just one way or one avenue. Good luck to you, your coworkers and the GMs.

They train people who have been homeless for various reasons to work in the restaurant industry. I love industries who recognize that when the right things are addressed, people can accomplish so much more than they ever knew.

Good on you for having the courage and smarts to find them and to keep on climbing!
