...to China.

NK exists today because they entered the war.

Two things, we were part of a UN force and Russia had nuclear weapons and was supporting the North as was China.
There could have been a WWIII

1. The Korean War is not over, it is merely in a state of ceasefire.

2. Any result approaching a "win" would have brought us into direct confrontation with China and, absent nukes, they would have taken the entire peninsula. With nukes, the outcome is also undesirable. Arguably, North Koreans would be better off now under Chinese rule.

3. The conflict was more directly a UN police action, not a solo US effort.

Uh, that's three things. Oh well.
