What if...
The White Beard and the Red Cowl are part of the Santa superhero costume and when the current occupant of the role retires, another virtuous and able candidate steps forward and takes on the Santa mantle?
And what if that person is appointed (or elected) to the position on merit and could be white, black, brown, red, yellow, green or purple?
Well, it's all make-belive anyway, and that's what I want to believe.
Plus, it's a system that's used for Popes, Presidents, and Time Lords...so why not?

(611 posts)I think it would be essential to the idea of a superhero that the character have a secret identity, living among us normal folk, periodically putting on the heroic role to do good in our world. That would be an interesting take on Santa Claus, perhaps. They could make a Darker-n-Edgier film version of the character, make him mean and tuff, like with other superheroes.
The idea of the Santa Claus identity being something which is passed on periodically is an interesting one. Hmm. Maybe he could be like Marvel's Captain Universe, and the Spirit of Christmas enters someone, anyone, perhaps at random, transforming that person into Santa Claus for a time. Hm, hmm.
