I was in China last summer and felt safe walking alone in a place where I was clearly different and didn't speak the language. Why? No guns.

Late one evening our local female tour guide got off the tour bus before we arrived back at the hotel. The driver knew where to take us and that earlier stop was apparently closer to the guide's home. The next day I asked her "weren't you afraid to walk down those dark streets alone?" Her response was essentially no, that it was very safe. Some of the other Americans, echoing my concern, said that back home they would only walk alone at night if they had their guns with them.

Yet this country lauds the people's freedom! Really sad

When the rare gun violence crops up there I am always sure it is some American yahoo . I live in a border state, so the news (specifically radio) usually includes happenings from the US and Canada

Neighbors tell KHOU 11 News that they saw a fight involving 20 people Sunday morning, and then three hours later, gunshots rang out.

Probably some argument between premillennialists and postmillennialists.
