India political leader: arrest all gay US diplomats in India...

Latest news from that bastion of feminist and glbt liberation, India:

"After the Supreme Court of India last week shocked the world by declaring gay sex is illegal under their constitution, a senior India political leader is now demanding the arrest of all gay U.S. diplomats and their same-sex spouses or partners.

Yashwant Sinha, a leader of India’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), demanded today, “why doesn’t the Government of India go ahead and arrest all of them!,” referring to gay U.S. diplomats and their “companions” in India. “Put them behind bars, prosecute them in this country and punish them?,” he asked."

party from what I understand. He has suggested this and elections are in 6 months. I wonder if he's proposing this for campaign reasons. Lets all hope other countries aren't taking pages from the neo-con playbook. I read that the supreme court in India recently upheld a colonial era anti-homosexuality law, so it will be interesting to see how India's citizens react.

issues with religious or ethnic minorities as the basis for bigotry. With India's caste system an issue like being gay doesn't fall into one caste so I wonder how they will respond.
