Let's review Virginia for a minute, shall we?

President Barack Obama (D), twice
Senator Tim Kaine (D)
Senator Mark Warner (D)
Governor Terry McAuliffe (D)
Lt Governor Ralph Northam (D)
Attorney General Mark Herring (D)

Now, what can we learn from this?

The Virginia Republican party consistently uses their rules to opt out of having a primary and instead selecting candidates at the convention, which is like the bar scene from star wars, with more confederate flags.

Thus the most popular Republicans are seldom on the ballot.

That and the high NoVa turnout in Presidential election years has given D's a good run.

If, however, the state Republican party ever starts seeking the most electable candidates (hopefuly never), we will see that this is far from being a blue state just yet.
