So the "War on Christmas" has begun. . .
I, unfortunately, live in the deep south. . . . . in a deep red state. . . I work for the state in a state hospital facility, funded by state tax payers. . . . I am NOT christian. . . .
The hospital sponsored a "christmas" party today, with not just "Christmas" holiday music, ,but the full shebang. . . . People singing all about christ the savior, christ our lord, the birth of our lord, the day the world was saved, yada, yada, yada. . .
Even worse, the "charity" the hospital administration chose to donate money to is a pro-life facility whose mission statement declares: "Using the Bible as our guide, we seek to help women identify sinful patterns of behavior and turn to God for restoration and transformation. Their efforts at change are reinforced through the discipline of adhering to program rules, work therapy, formal instruction, support group interaction, in-depth Bible study, counseling and prayer."
This organization is one of those "pseudo" pro-life (I much prefer the term, "anti-choice) organizations that try to persuade women that their husbands have beaten them, because they haven't followed scripture and that they have fallen into alcoholism or drug addiction b because they haven't accepted jesus as their personal savior. . .
I am really disheartened and disgusted. I would think this would be illegal, but the of course the administration will free itself by stating that donations are "voluntary" That STILL doesn't explain WHY there was NO consideration that somebody may not be christian. . . No clue that there may be Jews, Moslems, or hell, even agnostics or atheists. . . .
I left while some woman (evidently somebody told her she could "sing"-- well. . . . she could NOT) was warbling "Oh Holy Night. . ." I just couldn't stay and not laugh out loud.
I find this entire tiresome idea of a "war on christmas" such utter, inane bullshit and so easily debunked.
