(55,445 posts)Back in the day I did watch the *original* first season of MTV's "The Real World" because I was 16, it was such a cool, cutting-edge concept at the time, and my TV was usually on MTV 6-8 hours of the day anyways....
Haven't gone near any reality show since....

(21,020 posts)watch a show about people who got rich making duck calls than about people who live/feed off of the misery of others, which is the show called "Hard Core Pawn", starring the Gold family.
The store is in the heart of Detroit, and it makes me absolutely sick to see how those snakes take advantage of the poor people who come in to sell or pawn their items.
All the family (father and his grown son and daughter) does is yell and scream and insult each other. The mother wisely stays out of it. Doesn't even "work" at the store, as far as I can tell.
Every so often a "customer" will come in and raise a big stink just to add to the drama. Fake as a three dollar bill, even when these "customers" pretend to be fighting with the security people.
I don't watch it...Mr Pipi thinks it's a hoot, especially all the screaming they do. I guess he didn't have any of that sort of drama growing up. I did. I don't want...don't need...to be seeing that shit now.
Most disgusting show on TV, with absolutely NO redeeming qualities whatsoever.

(191 posts)I swear TV producers think that is documentary of an ideal world to work toward, or they are just cheap bastards that don't to pay for scripts, but even if that were the case, every now and then we would get intelligent people by chance alone but that never seems to be the case.

(43,174 posts)....I remember the first time I saw an ad for Duck Dynasty and my immediate thought was, "No idiot is seriously going to sit down and watch a reality show about people who make duck calls."
And then I watch it become a sensation with millions of followers.
I like to believe in the greatness of humanity, but dear Lord I swear I sometimes have serious doubts.
