Phil Robertson Publicly Bashed Gays for Years -- A&E Knew All About It

A&E knew all about "Duck Dynasty" star Phil Robertson feelings toward gays when it hired him -- because the guy openly preached that gays were going to hell years before the series started.

Take a look at the video (on the link below) of a 2010 sermon at Berean Bible Church in Pennsylvania ... it's pretty much your typical bible-thumping drill. Phil calls gay people shameful, perverse, heartless, faithless, senseless God haters ... destined for the burning pits of hell.

So with that backdrop ... A&E hired Robertson ... then allowed him to do an interview with GQ where it HAD to know the reporter would ask questions about his feelings toward gays ... and then when he answered honestly A&E punished Robertson.

Robertson may be misguided, but A&E is being dishonest for feigning shock about something it definitely knew all about.

them better wants to talk to you about the norms of human sexuality, in the context of a book written by bronze age goat herders and translated over half a millennium ago by multiple delegations of men sworn to celibacy.

Did I mention the show airs on the same network as Dog The Bounty Hunter, Intervention, and Hoarders?

They don't care about his views. They care what the public thinks about their programs.

Dump the whole show already.

They pretty much have to.

Especially when even more duckshit floats to the surface...and it will.

Or maybe a son will come out...tomorrow. Betch'er bottom dollar that would up the ratings.

They, along with other networks, buy reality TV episodes from producers. They don't necessarily vet a show's "characters" the way a politician's choice for political appointee might.

It seems you are drawing a lot of conclusions about A&E.

they could still show the program or not, most of the viewers probably agreed with him anyway. I see this as A&E's problem. They knew they were putting profits ahead of their stated values before the first episode aired.

I haven't read it but a friend commented to another on FB who was saying she respected his honesty that yeah, the ass is real honest like when he said Blacks were happier under Jim Crow he must have been stoned in the 50s and 60s. The news covered it last night but nothing was mentioned about that,

'Duck Dynasty' Star Phil Robertson Claims Black People Were 'Happy' Pre-Civil Rights

"Duck Dynasty" star Phil Robertson made headlines this week for his anti-gay sentiments in a GQ interview. Now another statement from the interview -- this time about the black community during the pre-civil rights era -- is stirring more controversy.

GQ's Drew Magary sat down with the "Duck Dynasty" patriarch for a candid interview about his road to fame. The 67-year-old journeyed from substance abuse to devotion to God to small-screen celebrity, all in the backwoods of Louisiana. According to Robertson, growing up in those Louisiana backwoods in the pre-civil rights era was not bad for black people.

“I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person," Robertson is quoted in GQ. "Not once. Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers. I hoed cotton with them. I’m with the blacks, because we’re white trash. We’re going across the field.... They’re singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, ‘I tell you what: These doggone white people’—not a word!... Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues.”
