Some Hope for Change?

Is the White House finally getting serious about global climate change? New White House counsel John Podesta agreed to join Team Obama with one condition – that he be allowed to aggressively address this dire environmental concern. Obviously, this Congress is never going to pass any meaningful environmental protection legislation. Instead they are sure to continue their push for slant drilling, fracking, and the Keystone XL pipeline.
Podesta proposes a series of executive actions that might, finally, have an impact. The Washington Post has more:
The deal-sealer for Podesta, who has vowed to stay for only a year, was Obama’s assurance that he would be given broad oversight of the administration’s climate change agenda — even though Podesta has agreed to recuse himself from the decision on the Keystone pipeline, which he opposes. And here is where the template for Podesta in action might first become apparent: With chances of major legislation on climate change all but dead given congressional opposition, Podesta will push for aggressive executive action, in addition to backstopping new Environmental Protection Agency chief Gina McCarthy on controversial new emissions guidelines for power plants.
Moreover, he is almost certain to side with environmentalists over energy companies, as he did during the Clinton administration when he teamed with Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt to protect vast new tracts of national forest and wetlands from gas and oil exploration.
After spending years at his liberal Center for American Progress (CAP) studying how the president could use his executive authority to put the country on a path to use less oil, gas and coal, Podesta has been tapped to advise Obama on environmental and climate issues, adds the Daily Caller.
It would be welcome, good news if Podesta can persuade Obama to deliver on some of that change we want to believe in.

My black kitteh, Brigid, likes to doze on top of the heat register by the living room window this time of year. She gets so relaxed, when I pick her up she just settles limp in my shoulder and she's so warm!
Hopefully Mike & Kathy will be back tomorrow!
