Indiana governor (R) slightly softens stance against marriage equality

Source: Indianapolis Star

Gov. Mike Pence repeated his support for traditional marriage during a family policy speech Thursday, but stopped short of previous comments that explicitly endorsed lawmakers’ efforts to pass a state constitutional amendment that would ban gay marriage.

However the General Assembly deals with that issue, I also believe our conversation about family has to be more than just a debate over definitions.”

... Still, the absence of more direct language in a major family policy address is noteworthy, said Andrew Downs, director of the Mike Downs Center for Indiana Politics at Indiana University Purdue University-Fort Wayne.
